Dan Stevens to the Flickering Myth about
the EFNY remake casting rumors:
“(laughs) I just heard (the rumours) this morning." Steven said.
"It’s the first I’ve heard of it. It’s hilarious if it’s true! I don’t know
anything about it. But it’s lovely to have it bandied about.”
During the interview, Stevens talked about this love for John
Carpenter movies and indicated that he would be interested in the role however
saying, “I need to make some phone calls, I think!”
EXCLUSIVE: Dan Stevens denies links to Escape From New York remake
Flickering Myth
August, 2014:
No official release has been
made yet but according to a source Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim), Jon
Bernthal (The Walking Dead) and Dan Stevens (The Guest)
are three actors on Silver Pictures shortlist. None of the actors have read for
the role but an offer will me made "any day now" and Hunnam is apparently the
top contender in a more team-based remake.
It is still aimed as a trilogy but the origin
story aspect for the first film will be played down and be incorporated as brief
glimpses throughout the film.
No director has been chosen yet but according
to the source we would learn a "definite answer" before the year's end. It is also
indicated that the film will carry "a dark tone" and that it will still carry a
sci-fi element only "less tech-based and more of a gun-and-run thriller."

Joel Silver reveals that the script is not complete yet and that the game
Arkham City is an inspiration, showing how the city became a walled prison.
He also says that they have kind of figured out a way to do almost a trilogy of
the original story also showing how Snake Plissken was a hero and how he became
not looked at as a hero. And then after the movie that we saw with the
President's daughter (?) going down kind of find a way to have New York go back
to a place that we'd like too see what it is today.

polishing it. He also tells us that they will do the things that Carpenter
wanted to do bigger and better and that he wants to do New York more
recognizable and identifiable.

make the movie unless they get a perfect Snake Plissken. He also says that
Timothy Olyphant is a guy that could pull it off. He also tells us that the
prison will be different due to the anxiety of the world and anxiety of our
existence post-9/11 in there. He ends with saying that the movie will have a
different plot but being emotionally similar to the original movie.

Allan Loeb rewrites the script. Sources tells us that Manhattan will be
geographically undesirable, but intact due to budget restraints. This Manhattan
was evacuated and turned into a privately run penal colony after the detonation
of a crude radioactive dirty bomb on the outskirts of the city. A Private, KRB-like
security company controls Manhattan instead of the USPF. Prisoners are also
being processed on Ellis Island. New Line has also signed a contract with John
Carpenter that Snake must remain the same.
