How did you end up being an artist and a poster artist?

How did you get the assignment to do the Italian Escape From New York poster?

I did the poster in Italy on order of the World Sales Company of the film, which was Medusa at that time.



How was the poster conceived and did you have any other ideas or drawings prior to the final one?

Yes, there were always some more ideas from which the client would decide which one would be the selection for the final artwork.

Why did you decide to have Snake Plissken wear an earring?

As to say the truth: I don't remember this, but there was definitely a reason to do so.

How long did it take to make the poster art and what reactions did you get from it?

2 weeks. After the artwork is done and the client likes it the real reactions come from the public. The film was a success and so far...

Are there any other anecdotes you'd like to share with us about the poster?

Yes, in the movie Russell wears a patch over the left eye, by mistake I did it on the right one. Only after the poster was printed we realized this...

What do you think of the movie personally?

I generally like the work of Carpenter. It was one of the first movies of its kind and Carpenter did a very good job.

What are you currently doing and what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I'm working on a huge painting which will take part of my PAINTED MOVIES - Series. I love movies and have spent my lifetime to work with greatest pleasure for it. In my "leisure" - time I'm travelling in African countries and the Arabian deserts as to study the wildlife and landscapes, but it always ends up in paintings.
