Updates On 'Escape From New York' Remake (Horror-Movies/Apr 12/2010) By Meh

From Collider come some updates on the remake of Escape From New York which has been long gestating. Producer Neil Mortiz tells them that they have a new script and are now hitting the streets to find a director. Last year Variety reported that Gerard Butler was going to star but he was later removed from the project.

Neil Moritz says they have a few people in mind to play Snake Plisken but that they hope Gerard Butler will read the new script and consider the role. He also says they are aiming for an R rating for the film.

The escape movies are some of my favorite b-movie action films and although admittedly not horror their apocalyptic themes are why I mention them here.
